Art & Design

Intent

At Our Lady of Good Help, we believe that Art & Design allows children to respond to and make sense of our world creatively. We aim to ignite our children’s imagination through visual, tactile and sensory experiences. We enable children to communicate what they see, feel and think through the use of colour, texture, form, pattern and different materials and processes. Our curriculum provides children with opportunities to explore ideas through the work of a range of artists and designers, systematically building upon learned skills. Whilst learning about the roles and functions of art, pupils can explore the impact it has on contemporary life and on different periods and cultures. We value the appreciation and enjoyment of the visual arts and the role it plays in enriching our lives. Consequently, children enjoy a range  and a secure knowledge of artists, craftspeople and designers.
